Enoon Cafe is one of the latest additions to the rapidly developing Capitol Hill District, or, as it's been known for years, Calle Dos Cinco. We were naturally intrigued to hear about a new coffee shop that was leaning into Mexican flavors and aesthetic -- including a revisioned Diego Rivera-esque mural on the east wall, but really, I went for the horchata latte, and along the way discovered the banana licuado. Alex Rodriguez is a former cannabis guy turned coffee geek, and his commitment to Latin American coffee means you get to experience coffee through the lens of his Mexican heritage, specifically Juarez. His younger brother Ivan -- yes, they have two very famous baseball names -- does the cooking, and the menu is small for now, featuring a torta and avocado toast. In the episode Alex talks about the changes that are coming, including an expanded food menu.

We'll be dedicating some coverage to the district soon, but for now, Enoon is enough of a draw to get us down there regularly, and once you try the tres leches cake, you'll be there regularly too. Alex is gatekeeping the baker's name for now, and we love the challenge of sussing out her identity, because this is easily the best tres leches I've ever had. In the episode we talk all things Capitol Hill, coffee, panaderias, weed, and food. It's great to see coffee being interpreted through these various lenses, and that's why we featured Andrea Schultz of HQ Coffee last year: Korean-American kid decides to make coffee with ube, hojicha, black sesame, etc., and these culturally specific third spaces are open to everyone, and provide an opportunity for us to get insights into the diverse cultures that contribute to OKC's remarkable culinary scene.
