OKC Underground Podcast: Andy Bruch and Superfly
Chef Andy Bruch is an Iowa native who made his culinary reputation in Denver. We ate at his Point Easy last time we were in Denver, and it was the best meal we had that trip, so it was great to see 5280 had the same level of respect for his spot as we did. When we learned Bruch was coming to OKC to open the first of at least two concepts, we were understandably excited, and the food at Superfly has justified our excitement, especially the burger. Dear lord — get the burger! It takes some serious confidence and skill to wander into OKC — the home of some of the country’s best burgers currently — and decide to lead with a burger. The confidence paid off, and the skill showed, and adding Ryan Goodman as bar manager ensures an excellent experience on the cocktail front too, including an inexplicably affordable $8 Pinhook Old Fashioned.

In this episode, we dig into Bruch’s meandering path to cheffing, including farming and ranching, his love for pigs (shared by us), and the curiosity that drives all his endeavors. He ended up being very good at being interviewed, and we confess to not being surprised about that either. You’ll also learn a little more about the upcoming Medley Market, and Bruch’s pizza spot that will be in Medley when it opens late this year. Chef Andy is a stellar addition to the OKC food scene, and we’re excited to see what else he has planned for the metro. And as we discuss in the episode, Superfly is in the Ironworks District.
